Rayo Vallecano vs Real Betis


With only two points separating the teams in the table, 
we can expect a competitive game here between Rayo Vallecano 
and Real Betis but home advantage may just swing this
in the favour of the hosts.


Rayo have been really impressive in Vallecas this season 
with their high intensity approach making it tough for visiting teams.


 It’s largely in contrast to Betis who tend to rely on their technical 
abilities rather than fitness levels but the one big similarity
between the two teams is that both play with attacking full-backs 
who like to get into very advanced positions.


That’s going to be a real battle here as Rayo will look to press 
and prevent Betis’ dangerous left-back Alex Moreno from getting 
too far up the pitch. 


I’d expect both sides to gamble at times and commit players 
forward which should create an open, end-to-end game and 
we ought to see a few goals.


Overall though, Rayo might just have the edge 
as Betis didn’t look at all convincing on their return to action 
last week with a 0-0 home draw against Athletic Club. 


There has been speculation about striker Borja Iglesias’ future 
and he wasn’t anywhere near his best in that game 
and there were other players who also underperformed.


It certainly wasn’t the response Manuel Pellegrini would have 
wanted after a few disappointing results prior 
to the international break and he’ll know this will be tough. 


The suspension of centre-back Luiz Felipe doesn’t help matters 
either and their relatively poor away form may continue here.
