Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad


It’s 2nd against 3rd here and Real Sociedad can move level on points 
with Real Madrid with a victory. 


That would really announce themselves as genuine contenders 
in this title race but I can’t see them getting it.


Real Madrid’s performance levels haven’t been brilliant but you could 
have said the same for much of last season and they still ended up
winning LaLiga and the Champions League. More often than not,
they find a way to raise their level and win the big games and they 
will surely be treating this as another one.


Carlo Ancelotti has rotated at times during this busy period in the 
season and notably left both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric on the 
bench in Bilbao last weekend. 


They still managed to win the game and their ability to rotate in 
midfield is really helping them get through this month with fringe 
player Dani Ceballos putting in some excellent performances 
which has made it easier for Real Madrid to rest players.


They’ve also only got a few injuries which helps while Real Sociedad 
have once again got a whole host of players needing treatment. 


They’ve managed to keep the momentum going regardless with 9 
straight wins in all competitions prior to their 
midweep cup defeat at Camp Nou.


A bit of fatigue has to be setting in now for La Real, not least 
because they had to play for 50 minutes with 10 men against 
Barcelona on Wednesday after Brais Mendez saw red. 


With the likes of Mikel Merino and Andoni Gorosabel missing 
again here, most of the eleven that played in the cup will 
have to start again here and they may be found wanting 
against a Real Madrid side who have more fresh legs to 
choose from should they wish to rotate.


It may be one game too many from a Real Sociedad 
point of view but with Real Madrid making defensive errors 
and again with selection issues at right-back, 
they’ve a good chance of getting on the scoresheet.
