Getafe vs Valencia


This is perhaps the biggest game of the season so far in terms 
of the relegation battle as the teams in 19th and 18th meet 
at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. 


It’ll be the first game under new management for Valencia 
while I’m not sure Getafe boss Quique Sánchez Flores can afford 
to lose this game if he wants to stay in a job.


The stakes are high and both sides have selection problems 
to compound their current struggles. 
Getafe are missing two of their first choice midfielders 
with Luis Milla and Carles Alena both unavailable. 


The absence of playmaker Milla in particular may force them 
to adopt a more physical and more direct approach, 
but that may just suit Getafe as their attempts at more intricate 
buildup play this season has rarely converted
into many chances and goals.


Valencia’s problems meanwhile are in the final third with 
Samu Castillejo suspended and main striker Edinson Cavani injured. 


They lost their 4th game in a row last weekend and have just 
1 point from their last 7 games, sparking another coaching 
change this week with Ruben Baraja replacing caretaker boss Voro.


Baraja is a club legend having won two league titles 
with the club in the 2000’s.
However he hasn’t got a great managerial CV and has been out 
of work since he was sacked by second tier Zaragoza in early 2020, 
so I’m not convinced he’s going to be the man to instantly 
fix Valencia’s problems. 


With some tough fixtures coming up, it’ll be hard for Baraja 
to enjoy much of a honeymoon period.


Overall, I think Getafe look marginally the more likely victors here, 
following on from good draws against top six opposition 
in their last two games. 


Although Valencia have the more talented players, 
I could see Getafe turning this into a really physical game 
which would favour the hosts more and their extra experience 
in terms of getting wins in key relegation six-pointers 
last season could also prove decisive on the night.

승점 1점을 얻는데 그쳤고, 이번 주 루벤 바라자가 감독 대행
