There isn’t much fluidity to their attacking play and it feels like
Baraja has made the decision to prioritise having a stronger
defensive structure, even if that means they create less chances
and score fewer goals.
It will make it hard for them to exploit Almeria’s defensive flaws
here unless Baraja decides to take a few more risks.
Almeria have continued to offer a goal threat despite a season-ending
injury to top scorer El Bilal Toure.
While not as prolific, they do have other forwards and wide players
who are capable of causing problems for this Valencia defence and
they also have a goalscoring midfielder in the shape of Gonzalo Melero.
A relatively even game is likely given, as the league table suggests,
these sides are quite evenly matched, but Almeria are posing
the greater goal threat and their typically positive approach may
just reward them with another key home win over
bottom half opposition.
