Real Betis vs Espanyol
Real Betis again managed to self-destruct last weekend
with two more red cards taking their season tally to 12 in LaLiga,
more than any other side in Europe’s big five leagues.
That ill discipline is badly hurting them but they have a good chance
to get back on track here against an Espanyol side
that is also missing three players to suspension.
The change in coach did not bring the desired result for Espanyol
last weekend as they sunk to a deserved 2-1 home defeat
in Luis Garcia’s first match and suddenly Espanyol look like
very strong relegation candidates following five straight losses.
The suggestion seems to be that the players were happy
under previous boss Diego Martinez, even if results weren’t great,
and if anything they were even worse defensively
under Garcia last weekend.
With Joselu up front, they are always capable of nicking a goal
on their travels, but I’m not sure they’ll be strong enough
at the back to get a result here.
