Villarreal vs Espanyol
Villarreal and Espanyol both fell short of the desired result
in their last games and both are now in danger of missing
their objectives for the season.
Villarreal created the better chances in their away game
at Sevilla but weren’t clinical enough and were hit
by a sucker punch at the end as Youssef En-Nesyri’s header
condemned them to a second straight defeat.
They are still playing good football and a repeat level
of performance should see them create plenty of opportunities
against a weak Espanyol defence.
Luis Garcia’s side were also guilty of missing chances
in their disappointing Friday night draw with Cadiz.
That’s rarely their problem in truth with striker Joselu
usually dependable in front of goal and there’s every chance
they get on the scoresheet here.
However I’d still expect the quality of Villarreal’s midfield
and attacking play to prove decisive,
proving they aren’t as wasteful in front of goal again.
