Elche vs Rayo Vallecano

Elche were on the brink of a first point under new boss 

Sebastián Beccacece on Wednesday, 

but conceded a 90th minute goal to lose in Vigo. 

They are playing reasonably well in the middle of the pitch 

but the issues in defence and in attack are noticeable

almost every week.

Evenso, they may have an opportunity to get a result here. 

Rayo Vallecano recorded a brilliant win over Barcelona 

on Wednesday but their away form hasn’t been great 

and I don’t think they are a team suited to playing 

so many games in such a short space of time. 

They only really know one way to play, which is with intensity 

and by pressing their opponents across the pitch, 

but after such a big effort, they’ll find it tough to reproduce 

such a high level less than 72 hours later. 

They don’t really have a squad that enables them 

to rotate significantly either, 

so this could prove a trickier game than it looks 

for Andoni Iraola and his team.
