It has been a dreadful week for Getafe with losses at Mallorca
and at home to fellow strugglers Almeria,
pushing them deep into relegation trouble.
With so little preparation time before the next two games,
it makes little sense to appoint a new coach now,
but it does feel like Quique Sanchez Flores is really struggling
to get the best out of this team and they’ll be missing arguably
their best centre-back Djene here after his costly red card
in the 2-1 defeat in midweek.
Espanyol played reasonably well in their last home game
against Cadiz with poor finishing costing them three points.
A similar level here should be enough to see off Getafe based
on their last two performances.
Given the league standings, I’d certainly expect Luis Garcia
to really pursue the three points with an attacking gameplan
in what feels like a “must win” game for the hosts.
