Both Girona and Mallorca have been very dependent on their home
form for points this season and it’s likely that trend will continue here.
After their 4-2 win over Real Madrid last week, Girona will back
themselves to beat anybody on their own ground and I think they
have the tools to unlock this Mallorca defence.
While they may not have so much success with crosses into the
penalty area against the away team’s three-man central defence,
they have shown over the past two weeks that even with some
key players out, they do have other options. We saw 20 year old
Yan Couto impress against Los Blancos as Viktor Tsyhankov moved
into a central midfield role and again did well.
Their injury problems remain but it is a young squad who should be
able to cope with the heavy workload and their range of creative
options may help them edge this against a Mallorca side that
is a bit more predictable in terms of how they try to play.
