Athletic Club vs Real Betis
Betis once again were largely to blame for their own downfall at the
weekend with their 13th red card of this LaLiga season sparking a
4-0 collapse away to Barcelona.
They’ve had a really tough fixture list over this busy period with this their
third away game in the space of the four matches and they’ve looked
poor defensively in the previous two on the road.
They aren’t the type of team who could come and really nullify Athletic
in the way Sevilla did at San Mames last week, so I’d expect the home
team to create chances, particularly with Edgar Gonzalez’s suspension
adding to Betis’ problems in central defence. Striker Borja Igleasias is
also an injury doubt and while he hasn’t been in great form,
his absence at the weekend still left them missing somebody to lead the
line and link up with other players.
Their decline, opens up a real opportunity for Athletic Club to potentially
overhaul Betis and clinch a Europa League place and I’d expect home
advantage to help the Basque side claim all three points here.
