Espanyol’s season has been a desperately poor one from start to
finish and we’ve not seen any sign that there is
going to be a late turnaround.

last weekend and I can’t see this going any better for them with
their defence far too easy to break open.
Rayo Vallecano are still fighting hard for a European place and
even in defeat at Betis last time out, they still had plenty of
opportunities to score more than once.
They’ll be close to full strength here and the stage appears to be
set for Raul de Tomas, who left Espanyol on very bad terms
last summer after a 17-goal season, to push his old club
further towards the Segunda Division.
He’s likely to be very motivated to do just that and has looked
a bit sharper in the last two matches with signs he may
be getting back towards a higher level again.
