Both Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal can be pretty pleased
with their efforts this season,
although it does feel like Rayo are fading slightly
while their opponents here are still pushing hard
to maintain a shot of 4th place.
They must win their final two games to stand any chance
of pipping Real Sociedad to Champions League qualification
and I fancy they may just have too much for Rayo here.
They’ve got four really good attacking options now
with Nico Jackson one of the form players in the league
with two more goals in midweek.
That’s likely to force Quique Setien to pick only one
of Gerard Moreno or Samu Chukwueze here
which is a position of real luxury for the Villarreal boss
to be in as both are high quality players.
They do allow their opponents space though
and given Rayo’s naturally bold and aggressive strategy at home,
we could see a really good game here with plenty of chances
for both teams but I fancy the visitors may just have the edge
in terms of finishing them off.
