For VfL Wolfsburg, it was a forward finally putting an end to
his goalless run that was cause for euphoria.
With 9 goals across the first 12 matchdays, Jonas Wind started
the campaign in absolutely tremendous form, yet,

Wolfsburg’s fight to escape the drop.

The win could have drawn Jess Thorup’s side level with
Frankfurt for 6th place, but 3 second-half goals saw the home
side draw away and put a halt to the dreams of
a top 6 finish in Augsburg.
A club whose European aspirations faded long before last weekend
are Augsburg’s upcoming opponent, SV Werder Bremen.
The north German outfit are entrenched in the relegation battle,
but Ole Werner’s side were nevertheless the biggest winner of
