It is truly remarkable when one compares where Stuttgart were
less than a year ago.
Die Schwaben have already collected twice as many points as
they managed in the entirety of the last campaign,
and they have swapped a relegation battle for
a comfortable top 4 finish.
From back to front there have been countless individual
performances, with Stuttgart’s entire squad playing a formidable
role in the success.
This weekend was a great example of this, with the three goal scorers
- Leonidas Stergiou, Woo-Yeong Jeong, & Silas -
all playing less than 1000 minutes this season.

- a difficult task for a club that has won just 4 times all season -
but the first of these two end games pits them directly
against relegation rivals Union.
Across 9 meetings in the Bundesliga, FC Köln have never beaten
the East-Berlin outfit (2 draws, 7 losses),
but Die Eiserne are weaker than ever after suffering
their 6th winless match in a row.
No club has taken fewer points across the last 6 matches in
the Bundesliga (2 points), and Union looked to be cruising for
a hiding on Sunday as they entered halftime 3:0 down to VfL Bochum.
A second-half resurgence sparked optimism as Union ultimately
lost by a narrow scoreline of 4:3, but it wasn’t
enough for manager Nenad Bjelica to keep his job.
Less than 6 months after his appointment, the Croatian manager is
out of a job again with Union only narrowly improving since his arrival.

Leipzig will be without the influential Xavi Simons for the first of
these two tests - the Dutch international was sent off last Friday -
while Xaver Schlager is guaranteed to fall out for the rest of the season.
The Austrian international suffered an ACL tear last matchday,
the second time he has been struck by this serious
long-term injury in his career.
The 26-year-old will now be out for over half a year,
prompting Leipzig to look for a replacement on the market
this summer.
A long injury track record is nothing new for Leipzig’s
upcoming opponents, Werder Bremen.
Ole Werner’s side have constantly been forced to adapt to
a diminished squad, but with 38 points they have achieved
their all-important goal of remaining in the topflight.
Marvin Ducksch added his 8th assist of the competition in Bremen’s
2:2 draw on Saturday, but it was his strike partner,
Nick Woltemade, who stole the show.

Striker Alassane Pléa has not scored since December,
French starlet Manu Koné looks to have lost almost all of the
desire to turn his form around in Gladbach,
while Florian Neuhaus seems to have completely lost a connection
with manager Gerardo Seoane.
Gladbach will be a favorite to survive this season,
but a look ahead toward the upcoming campaign offers
a worrying prognosis if they do not make some drastic
changes in the summer window.
Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, are sitting comfortably
in 6th place since December.
Die Adler have barely moved up or down all campaign,
with the 5:1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen showing just
how far they still are from competing with the top 5 clubs
in the Bundesliga.
Fortunately, there are some good puzzle pieces for the future,
but Frankfurt will need to decide where their future will go.
Either Frankfurt can continue to sell its top talent and
cash in on profits, or they can take a gamble by extending
deals for higher wages to break into the established top 4.

A home fixture against Borussia Dortmund is not an easy task for Mainz
- Die 05er have not beaten Dortmund in the MEWA Arena since 2014 -
but they will be supported by some important
talents returning to the side.
Brajan Gruda and Nadiem Amiri can return to the first
11 after sitting out last weekend with a yellow-card suspension,
while Nelson Weiper, one of the top talents in German football,
made his on-field return on Sunday with his first minutes in
almost 8 months.
After a scintillating European evening that culminated with
entry into the Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund will be
expected to heavily rotate the lineup ahead of this weekend’s fixture.
Edin Terzić made the same decision last weekend against FC Augsburg,
and on that occasion, it paid off with a dominant 5:1 display.
Youssoufa Moukoko scored a Bundesliga brace,

There are no two ways about it, Darmstadt simply could not
compete in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season!
TSG Hoffenheim, on the other hand, have failed to unlock
their playing potential this season,
but there are still some individual performers with the capacity to
pull this side over the line.
Chief amongst them is Andrej Kramaric.
The Croatian international has contributed 6 goals and assists
across his last 5 Bundesliga fixtures, with his latest strike earning
Hoffenheim an invaluable point against Leipzig.
