Sevilla vs Las Palmas
Sevilla and Las Palmas meet in a massive game
at the bottom of LaLiga on Tuesday evening.
The visitors will be on the brink of relegation if they lose it,
but an away victory would make things very interesting
in the bottom six, and suck Sevilla deeper into trouble.
Both sides suffered damaging weekend defeats,
with Sevilla now on a winless run of eight games
following a 3-2 loss at Celta Vigo.
The club’s players and staff were forced to spend the night
at their training ground on Saturday following angry protests
from supporters that greeted their arrival back from Galicia.
That’s the unsavoury backdrop to this game
from a home perspective, and it may be difficult for some
of those players to pick themselves up and
put in a performance under the intense scrutiny and
pressure they are currently dealing with.
While much of the anger is directed at those running the club,
the players will be feeling the heat too,
and they haven’t performed anywhere near well enough
in the past few months.
Caretaker boss Joaquin Caparros has not had any real impact yet.
He has tried a few different approaches,
but a 4-4-2 system did not deliver the goods at Balaidos,
and Caparros will be forced into at least one change here
given striker Isaac Romero is suspended.
Things aren’t going any better at Las Palmas
who have suffered three straight defeats,
including damaging back-to-back home losses against Valencia
and Rayo Vallecano, just when it looked as though
a corner might have been turned.
They’ve also been rocked by a huge injury blow,
with top scorer Fabio Silva now set to miss the rest of the season.
Diego Martinez was hoping to get the Portuguese forward back
in time to feature last Friday, but he has suffered a relapse
following a thigh injury, and he’ll be sorely missed
over the final few games.
Las Palmas are also set to be missing
their regular centre-back Scott McKenna again in this match,
and that leaves them with another big hole
that they don't really have a convincing option to fill.
They are still capable of asking a few questions
of this Sevilla defence, with the likes of Alberto Moleiro and
Oli McBurnie in attack, but even against such out-of-form opposition,
I can’t see them leaving with more than a point.

until the 89th minute to find a breakthrough.
Their victory also came from an unexpected source,
with 21-year-old Karl Etta Eyong scoring his first goal
in LaLiga to seal a third straight win for the Yellow Submarine.
He most likely wouldn’t have got off the bench
had Thierno Barry been fit, and the French forward is again
rated doubtful for this game, as is right-back Kiko Femenia.
Villarreal have not always been that convincing at home this season,
winning just seven out of 17 at the Ceramica.
That offers Leganes some optimism heading into this fixture,
although the home team do now seem
very focused on the objective of securing a top-five finish
and a return to elite-level European competition.
Leganes are clearly one of the most limited teams in LaLiga,
and that has been evident throughout the campaign.
However, unlike rivals Las Palmas,
Girona and Sevilla at the bottom,
they do at least seem to be dealing quite well
with the pressure of the relegation battle,
and they’ve been competitive over the last month.
They’re unbeaten in four games heading into this,
and they only suffered one-goal defeats against Barcelona
and Real Madrid just prior to that.
Borja Jimenez has consistently displayed an ability to come up
with an effective gameplan against the stronger teams,
and even if Leganes’ season does end in relegation,
he may still emerge with an enhanced reputation.
They grabbed a lifeline in their battle for safety at the weekend,
with a 3-2 triumph against Espanyol in a must-win home game.
Their last two fixtures are both winnable
against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid,
so I’d expect Jimenez to set up very defensively here,
with the structure likely to resemble 5-4-1 out of possession.
We’ve seen Leganes frustrate some of the most talented attacks
in LaLiga this season, and with Dani Raba,
who assisted two of their three weekend goals,
they do at least have one capable outlet
for any counter attacks they manage to launch.
Whether that’s enough for them to get something
from this game is far from certain,
but I fancy them to at least keep this close.

to have an opportunity to repeat that feat this week,
with Hansi Flick’s side now just two points away from winning LaLiga.
That’s by virtue of a 4-3 victory over their only title challengers
Real Madrid on Sunday in El Clasico.
For the third time in four matches in all competitions,
Barca fell 2-0 down early on,
but yet again they regrouped and
rallied with a fluent attacking display
that saw them score four first-half goals
to secure a half-time advantage.
While Los Blancos did come into the game in the latter stages,
Barca hung on for a 4-3 victory at the end
of a highly demanding fortnight.
With this game not taking place until Thursday,
they do have a bit of recovery time building into the Catalan derby,
but Flick may still consider some light rotation.
Alejandro Balde should be fit enough to start at left-back,
while Robert Lewandowski is also fit again after his recent injury,
although he somewhat surprisingly didn’t even make it
off the bench against Real Madrid,
with Ferran Torres putting in another excellent display.
There’s no doubting the quality in Barca’s attacking play,
but Espanyol can at least take encouragement
from the defensive frailties
we’ve seen from the league leaders in recent weeks.
Barcelona have conceded at least three goals
in five of their last eight matches in all competitions,
and they are further hampered here by a suspension
for Iñigo Martinez, their most convincing centre-back this season,
while right-back Jules Kounde remains a major doubt.
Espanyol have been impressive in 2025,
and they all but secured safety
when they beat Getafe at home last month,
and then drew their next match at Valencia.
However, it is three straight defeats since then for Manolo’s men,
and they’ve perhaps taken their foot off the gas slightly.
That’s highly unlikely to be the case in this derby match,
and they’ll be desperate to avoid a repeat of 2023
when Barca’s title win at the RCDE Stadium sparked ugly scenes
at full-time, with Espanyol’s ultras invading the pitch
and forcing the visiting players to race towards the dressing room.
The hosts have a doubt
over midfielder Pol Lozano again ahead of this game,
but they should have their best side out apart from that.
With Roberto Fernandez and Javi Puado carrying
their attacking threat against a weakened Barca defence,
they look capable of turning this into a really competitive derby,
and the visitors are likely to find this a much tougher game
than was the case on their last trip across the city in 2023.

However, there is depth in a squad that was constructed
for European football, and unless they completely freeze
under the pressure of a relegation battle,
they still ought to have enough quality
to defeat a poor Real Valladolid side.
Alvaro Rubio’s team did create quite a lot of opportunities
at Mallorca in their weekend fixture,
but they still sunk to a ninth straight defeat.
They have by far the worst defensive record in LaLiga,
and they are even weaker than normal in that department right now,
given centre-backs David Torres, Javi Sanchez and
Joseph Aidoo are all out injured.
Therefore, this is a great opportunity for Girona
to claim the three points that should guarantee their survival.
Prediction: Girona win

heading into this match, and a free-scoring Celta Vigo side
will really fancy their chances of causing problems
and potentially landing a knockout blow
on one of their main rivals for European qualification.
Claudio Giraldez has been using his squad effectively all season,
and there’s real depth in most areas which stands them
in good stead for a midweek fixture like this one.
The visitors look capable of grabbing all the points.

but their youthful side may find this tougher at what’s sure
to be a hostile Mendizorrotza on Wednesday night,
and I can see this game ending in a draw.

Betis looked to be finally feeling the effects
of a busy European campaign, as they laboured to a 1-1 draw
at home to Osasuna on Sunday night in a setback
to their Champions League hopes.
Manuel Pellegrini did rest a number of key players though
after 120 minutes in Italy on Thursday,
and the likes of Isco, Antony and
Johnny Cardoso should all return here.
In the second half of the season,
Betis have been comfortably one of the four strongest sides in Spain,
largely thanks to the quality they have in the final third,
with Isco and Antony both absolutely instrumental.
That could be the difference here against a Rayo Vallecano side
that is doing really well to sustain a European challenge,
despite the obvious limitations they have in attack.
Iñigo Perez has at least found a way to stem the flow
of goals they were conceding a few weeks ago,
with clean sheets in their last two matches.
They’ll be up against much more quality here though,
and with key man Isi Palazon suspended,
in addition to a number of injury concerns,
I can see Rayo failing to get a result.

He may get a lot more than that next season
if he plays like he did on Saturday,
with the Norwegian scoring four in 30 minutes to sink Real Sociedad.
With Julian Alvarez available again,
we may still see Simeone revert to a 4-4-2 system here,
but Sorloth, and a few other fringe players,
will still be hungry to make an impression,
despite their side having little to play for.
Osasuna are still fighting for a place in Europe and
they picked up a useful point at Betis at the weekend.
They also won three games on the bounce
in April to end a long winless run,
but those were all against struggling teams,
and they might not have quite enough here to deal
with the threat posed by the visiting team’s two strikers
who are among the most clinical in the league.

It’s hard to see them creating much in this game
against LaLiga’s meanest defence.
The big question is going to be whether
or not Athletic have enough in attack to secure a victory
that could secure Champions League qualification.
They’ve been dealing with a number of injuries in that department,
but their top scorer Oihan Sancet was fit enough
to feature off the bench in the 1-0 win over Alaves on Sunday.
He could return to the team here,
while it’s possible that at least one of the Williams brothers
could be fit enough to make the bench, if not the starting lineup.
That could give Athletic the boost they need
to see off an out-of-form Getafe.

헤타페는 5연패에 빠져 있으며,
